Ndutu Lodge has a great location in the southern short-grass plains of the Serengeti, beside a small lake set in beautiful acacia woodland, with the mighty backdrop of the Ngorongoro Crater highlands. Although the lodge is quite atmospheric, having retained the character of an old hunting camp, the accommodation is somewhat barrack-like, consisting of unimaginative semi-detached bungalows strung out in a row. There are various types of habitat in the area. It is most popular during the Winter season (January & February) when it is a convenient base from which to seek out the great wildebeest herds which gather on the nearby plains to give birth to their young.
The lodge overlooks Lake Ndutu which is a favorite water spot for numerous herds of game and a center point during the migration of wildebeest to the Central Serengeti
The central area of the lodge is a combined restaurant and bar area. Tea is served on the front verandah every afternoon
