An Ideal safari for those who love birds, boat trips and beautiful scenery. In the Great Rift Valley are strings of lakes surrounded by extinct volcanoes. Each lake is unique, there are soda lakes, which are home to millions of flamingoes: as well as fresh with hippo, crocodile and a multitude of different birds species.

Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the world, has superb fishing camps from which you have the opportunity to catch giant Nile Perch.

Day One: Nairobi/ Lake Naivasha

Shortly after leaving Nairobi you come to the edge of the Great Rift Valley.

A spectacular view opens up with the land dropping dramatically from conifer forests to dry and dusty plains way below. You drive down into the Rift Valley to arrive at the Lake Naivasha Club in time for lunch. This charming old hotel is set in wide lawns shaded by spreading fever trees.

A boat excursion in the afternoon allows you to enjoy the bird life and spot hippo and other wild animals, which wander freely on Crescent Island. Dinner and overnight at the Naivasha Country Club.

Day Two: Lake Naivasha/ Lake Elementaita
After breakfast depart for a short distance to Delmere Camp on the shores of Lake Elementaita. This intimate and luxurious tented camp commands dramatic views of the Lake and the surrounding volcanic peaks. You can relax in this peaceful spot or enjoy bird walks with the Camp ornithologists. In the evening, you will be treated with sundowners on a cliff overlooking the lake. Dinner and overnight at Dalmere camp or similar.

Day Three: Lake Elementaita/ Lake Baringo
After breakfast, drive north to Lake Baringo, board a small boat, and cross to Island Camp. This is a tented lodge built on a rocky hill at the edge of Ol Kokwe Island. The views are spectacular and there is a welcome swimming pool at the top of the hill.

A boat excursion in the late afternoon takes you to the marshes and up the mouth of Molo River where you may see hippo, crocodiles and an amazing variety of birds (over 488 species have been identified in this area.) Dinner is served under the stars or in the open-sided thatched dinning area.

Day Four: Lake Baringo/Lake Nakuru
Leave the Island after breakfast and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for Lunch at Sarova lion hill. The park is best known for its flocks of pink flamingoes, sometimes numbering over a million. It is also rich in other bird life and home to many animals including a proliferation of waterbuck and warthogs. There is a Rhino Sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at Sarova lion Hill.

Day Five: Lake Nakuru/Masai Mara

Drive back to Nairobi after breakfast. Lunch at Carnivore restaurant, well known for serving a wide selection of game meat. In the afternoon, you will fly over the spectacular Great Rift Valley to the Misaim Mara where you will stay in Keekorok Lodge.

Day Six: Masai Mara/Mfangano
Before breakfast fly in small plane to an exclusive fishing lodge (Mfangano Island Camp) set on the shores of Lake Victoria. The Camps have motorboats fully equipped with highest standards of fishing equipment. You have an exciting opportunity to catch the Nile Perch – the largest fresh water fish in the world.

Apart from fishing, you have a chance to see a large variety of birds, giant monitor lizards, and elusive spotted necked otters. Dinner and overnight at Mfanagano Island.

Day Seven: Masai Mara.
Fly back to Misaim Mara. In the afternoon enjoy a game drive. The Mara is home to virtually every type of wildlife including black manned lion, rhino, leopard, buffalo and elephants. (The big five) return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at your tented camp.
